History

Pete Simons started the family business shoe repair shop when Harry Truman was in the White House.  Simmon's son-in-law William Brown eventually took ownership of the family business 1969 and expanded the shoe repair into a full service shoe store in the 1980s. Kevin began working full time in 1975 with his late father William.

Kevin saw a need for pedorthic intervention with many customers and returned to school.  Kevin received his pedorthic training at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana and Northwestern University in Chicago Illinois becoming a Certified Pedorthist in 1990.  The Cobbler Shop Shoes and Pedorthics is the only full service shoe store in the Mid-Michigan area with an American Board Certified pedorthist on staff.

In 1990, Kevin became the third generation to take ownership of the family business.  His son, Ryan Brown, completed his formal Pedorthic training at Baker College-Flint  in 2017 and remains actively involved as a Pedorthist and in day-to-day operations. Brown's wife Pat serves as the operations manager which allows Kevin and Ryan to focus on pedorthic patient care.  Kevin, Pat, and Ryan work collectively with staff to provide quality merchandise and excellent solution based service in their family based pedorthic niche business.
